Where Petals Wither - By: Adeline Leslie

You’re the bright beam of sunlight that I can’t escape.
So why don’t you let me live in your brightness,
to have my peace —
And when I’m done having my peace,
you’re there to brighten my day even more.
All I need is my flower,
reminding me even small things bloom again —
and when they do,
my feelings settle.
It feels like heavy rain
when I let my emotions out —
that’s when you take my pain away,
reassure me,
and make me laugh.
Sometimes because you’re silly,
and sometimes because of your compliments —
so don’t leave me in the shadows,
where my petals start to wither.
