Waiting - By: Frank Yan

Time we shared, time well-spent

You know me well, everything I’ve meant

But that fateful day will always come

I don’t know when or how it’s done

I asked the question I had to know

Will you stay or will you go?

I’ll miss you, I always will

I’ll always wait, standing still

Time will pass, it always does

Birds will chirp, bees will buzz

But I’ll wait, I always will

Through the dark, through silent hills

Through heat or cold, shine or rain

Through thick and thin or joy and pain

I always will wait for you to come back

Your company is all that I truly lack

When you leave, will you tell?

Just like love, it’s fast, I fell

When you go, please let me know

So I don’t have to wander to and fro

I’ll miss you forever, I’ll miss you tonight

I’ll wait for you whether it’s wrong or right

And when you come back, please let me know

So I can stop waiting, deep in the snow

I love you right now, I’ll love you next year

But will you care, if I shed a tear?

You might not, but you also might

But at least I’ll wait every day and night

Please give a detailed explanation about the meaning and main idea of this poem.

This poem expresses how powerful love can be. The meaning of the poem is that even if the person I love leaves and I don't know when they will come back, I will still wait for them no matter what.

Please explain your writing and thought process regarding this poem.

My writing and thought process regarding this poem was to really emphasize how much someone is willing to do and how long someone is willing to wait for their love to return even if they don't know if they will ever be returning.

Why did you choose to write this poem?

I chose to write this poem because I like someone but I cannot express it to them.
