Perfect - By: Kaylinn Mackinnon

you tell me I have to be perfect

that I can never let down my walls

No one should know what happens in my head

because you say my opinion doesn't matter at all

my true self remains behind your stone wall

you built it all for me brick by brick

here I stand beside you a lifeless doll

war raging in my head

you tell me

you nearly lost your perfect

you almost cracked your wall

when you of all people should know

I am not perfect at all

Please give a detailed explanation about the meaning and main idea of this poem.

The meaning of this poem is so many people expect me to be perfect in every way when I'm just trying my hardest.

Please explain your writing and thought process regarding this poem.

I don't really know as I was very emotional and it was late at night haha

Why did you choose to write this poem?

I chose this poem because it was very raw and emotional when I first found it in my notebook (obviously been edited) and it can relate to many people

Do you have any tips or anything to share with the youth writers who may be reading this?

you do not have to be perfect all the time
