Florescent lighting grills my eyes. The smell of cleaning products swirl around my mind. My heart races as doctors and nurses hussle by. I stand in the middle of the infected place, getting body checked left to right. My brother is is not afraid after all this is his normal.
Down the hall a mother cries, her screams interrupting the flow of time. She just lost a child. I stand here wishing I could take all the pain away. Wishing I could take my brothers sickness and the woman's grief. I wish I could pluck every string of bad to ever gather here and set it all ablaze.
How I want to give everyone hope. If only I could hand out hope like candy on halloween. If only I could cure every sickness out there. If only cancer ridden children got better. If only illness didn't look you in the eyes and tell you to go screw yourself.
Maybe, just maybe the world would be a better place.
Illness kills.
Illness kills.

I was angry that my brother was suffering so I wrote. The words flowed from there.

I chose to write this poem because people need to know that being hurt even when nothing is happening to you is completely normal.
Do you have any tips or anything to share with the youth writers who may be reading this?
Write from your heart. Don't think to much about it. Just like yourself feel. Sounds silly but it works.
