I’m Done - By: Sophia Efere

I found a place

Not a silent place

Filled with lousy customers

And a striving hustlers

Hoping for the hours to go past behind

you

But it’s suddenly stops all way too soon

Your back hurts like a stone being placed

on it

And when you try to rest, a sign of guilt

rests on your back.

You watch the sun slowly go down

Happy you’d presume it to be

But your shift just resumed you’d see

I’m standing on three full words

Leave me alone

So I tell the customers who complain that

I got their order wrong

Only In my mind though

I found a place

Not a friendly one

Not a trustworthy one

But a place filled with hustlers

And thriving guests

Overwhelming guests

And contradicting guests

I’m just here to collect my overwhelming

paycheck

Don’t tell me you didn’t remember to check

Don’t tell me you didn’t see my sore neck

Don’t tell me you spoilt your own tech

I’m here to reap my hard work

This is not a lousy stock market

Please give a detailed explanation about the meaning and main idea of this poem.:

The poem is talking about the trouble young teenagers like me go through especially when it comes to the stress and anxiety at work. The fear of not getting paid after going a lot of pains and problems because of the reward that comes after you work hard which is the pay cheque that i get every two weeks from my workplace.

Please explain your writing and thought process regarding this poem.:

My thought process was to give a detailed meaning of how I felt as I was working at my workplace.

Why did you choose to write this poem?:

Ichose to write the poem because I felt like it was directly speaking to a lot of teenagers who may be scared to talk about how they really feel.

The feelings really jump out of the lines. Great!
