Holes - By: Anika Bhattacharya

Grab a shovel,

Dig it deep

Shovel the dirt out out,

And lay down water pipes in the ground.

Connect it to the sea

One that will forever alter the shape of the dirt.

Fill the hole back up,

A little is lost,

A lot is taken.

Grab a knife,

Cut into the thick soil,

Fill it with water,

But it doesn’t help.

Fill the dirt up in a wheelbarrow

Let the rain pour down

And so it becomes a small, silent pond.
