Differences in Vision - By: Taylor Graham

I am finally me again.

But what does it mean to be me.

What am I, because I am different in the eyes of the beholder.

What do I look like to the grass below me

To the coffee mug I drink from

To the people I pass on the street.

What feeling am I?

Do I make you feel anything?

Do you see the warm sunlight in me or rather do you see the stars and the silent moonlight?

Do you see anything at all?

let me absorb the energy of your gaze

Maybe it always felt like this

To be me is to be everything you want me to be

Or you see nothing.

Nothing exactly comes to mind, not even the thought of my existence.

Please give a detailed explanation about the meaning and main idea of this poem.

The idea of the poem is a girl seeing how someone wants her to be something that she barely knows to be herself. Someone only wants her to be one version of somebody. However, you can't be one version of a person. As three-dimensional beings, we have a different face to us for every interaction we have. The poem brings some perspective of how we are different in looks, personality, softness, and thinking, from everything around us.

Please explain your writing and thought process regarding this poem.

I wrote this while going through a very transitional phase in my life. I didn't know who I was or what I was like to other people. I was learning about emotions and how to deal with an outlet for them.

Why did you choose to write this poem?

I decided to write this poem because I wanted to try to explore a new writing avenue that I don't usually try. I saw this a s a way to creatively express myself as well as show a maybe new perspective to my readers.
