I was awakened before my eyes could show me.
I knew who I was going to be, perhaps that’s the reason why we cry at birth.
Perhaps we cry because we are afraid that some of us are good persons
born to suffer.
Perhaps it’s why we cry because no matter our telepathic ability
it cannot resolve the issues that we are raised to forget.
Or are we?
Was I born as a result of entercourse
from my parents?
Was I God’s creation
-meant with purpose?
I knew my future before my vision was formed,
before my brain could comprehend.
I knew that I had a chance
not a choice
of becoming someone I would despise
or becoming someone I would admire.
That's why we cry, right?
manufactured to be conducted
right or wrong, we are constructed.
We cannot escape it, only learn
-to crash or take flight.
I felt the pain before my muscles and tendons were developed.
Physical, mentally or emotionally, I felt it all
Engraved into my bones and flesh, it is what we are made for
If only I had the ability for pain receptors, on, off, I’d be inevitable.
Why are we created to feel so much instead of think?
Why do I have to feel you, be used, approved, moved?
We scream because we fear what lies ahead of us
We are exposed to pleasant lies
And painful truth
The world is made of both
Heaven and gore.
Please give a detailed explanation about the meaning and main idea of this poem.
The main concept and idea in this poem is the idea or concept of who we are since we are born. It is a complex and abstract thought of wether we have or not have a choice in our life and what we all are faced with in life. Do we exist for and because of love? Is our "purpose" only to make money and live to it? Was it even engraved in us before we were even born? These are all concepts and ideas I really tried to emphasize in this poem and. I want others to be aware of as well.
Please explain your writing and thought process regarding this poem.
When I write (and writing process as well) I only focus on what I feel and what I want to convey, that is, what combination of words are close enough to reveal what I want to express. This involves proper tone, special themes or ideas, and that feeling of being restrained.
Why did you choose to write this poem?
I chose to write this poem because I feel like my heart could have no longer endured this emotion. I also feel like I wrote this poem because the meaning behind it is pretty significant; therefore I would encourage others to explore this concept and idea (and I would want others to experience what I feel).
Do you have any tips or anything to share with the youth writers who may be reading this?
I encourage anyone and everyone to truly understand the perspectives of others. And the most crucial way is to learn how to understand, because if someone knows how to understand, then, they carry an inevitable philosophy that will change the way you think and see the world.
