A Quiet Dream - By: Jorja Trottier

Updated: Jan 18

I dreamt of you last night

you and me

wax melting into each other

forming around our skin

your hands are not strangers to my skin

your embrace not an invasive species upon my frail ecosystem

wee don't have to speak to know

I melt for you and you let me

I inhale what you exhale

you drink from my eyes

I need our one plus one to equal infinity

I need two to become a whole

I dream of you

and that is how you will stay.

Please give a detailed explanation about the meaning and main idea of this poem.

This poem comes from a place of true, sorrowful longing. It comes from my personal daydreaming of wanting that person that understands my every move. And that person unconditionally loving me and I the same to them. The poem also stems from wanting to soak up every part of someone. How loving them isn't enough, but you need to be a part of each other.

Please explain your writing and thought process regarding this poem.

As I stated, this poem comes from my personal daydreaming and longing. While writing this I just felt all the love I could feel for someone and how that would feel. The thought process feels quite lonely looking back upon it.

Why did you choose to write this poem?

I chose to write this poem as I love to get the words out of my head, and whenever those thoughts make sense I have to get them down on paper.

I like how you kept it short and sweet, and I liked what you said in the explanation!
